Free image compressor & converter

Reduce image file sizes and convert between formats. Drag and drop multiple images, adjust quality, and download the results — nothing leaves your browser.

How it works

How does browser-based image compression work?

Your images are decoded and re-encoded in your browser using the Web API. The quality slider controls the compression level — lower quality means a smaller file, higher quality means a larger but sharper image. No pixel data is ever sent to a server.

Which format should I choose?

JPG is best for photos — it achieves high compression with minimal visible quality loss. PNG is best for graphics, logos, or images that need transparency. WebP is a modern format that offers better compression than both JPG and PNG and is supported by all major browsers.

Can I compress HEIC photos from my iPhone?

HEIC decoding depends on your browser and operating system. It works natively in Safari on macOS and iOS. On other browsers, HEIC support may be limited — convert to JPG or PNG first in that case.

What is the maximum file size?

Each image can be up to 20 MB. Very large images may take a few seconds to process since everything runs in your browser.

What quality setting should I use?

For photos shared online, 70–80% quality typically reduces file size by 60–80% with barely noticeable quality loss. For images that need to remain crisp (e.g. product photos, screenshots), use 85–90%.
